The thin weight with high contrast allows Duchess to feel light and delicate without feeling weak. I wanted a lot of small moments to transpire throughout the typeface, using the serifs and ball terminals to act as subtle flare.

Despite primarily being a display, the tall x-height lends for better legibility. Duchess works well to depict luxury and classiness with a feminine touch reminiscent of a great beauty or muse. It feels warm, inviting, and elegant. Some complementary pairings include lace, marble, and gold.
